Daniel turns 3

Yesterday was Daniel's 3rd birthday. I was so excited to throw him a real party this year since he now has actual friends and really understands the concept of having a birthday. The party theme was pirates since I had bought this great inflatable pool last year on clearance and thought it would be so fun to use for his party. The party was great-- we did a treasure hunt with activities at each clue and then we topped it off with a pinata and cake. So much fun.

The pirates! Look at their large goodie bags (Daniel had his downed by the early afternoon).

Here are the clues:

Take a shovel and dig around look and see what you have found. (sandbox-- where I had hid gold coins, eye patches, ear rings and the clue. The kids loved digging in the sand finding all their treasures!)

Run out fast then take a dive get the clue and give me five. (we had a slip and slide-- the kids loved diving, although none were coordinated enough to really slide the whole distance)

Take one of these filled with water, It cools you off when it’s getting hotter. (water balloons, only a few were thrown at one another-- most were just quickly tossed out of the bucket since the kids were in a mad rush to find the clue)

Try your best to place the flag in the ship and not the bag. (we had a pirate version of pin the tail on the donkey where you had to place the flag on the ships stern)

It’s blown with air but sails with flair. (the inflatable pool, the kids loved it especially since it had inflatable swords, shields, treasure box, pirate hats and it squirts water from the cannons)

Take a pole and hook it over will you get a clue or clover? (we have a magnetic fishing pool and fish)

It may be plastic but it looks real search the pirate ship with sight and feel. (this is our plastic pirate ship play house)

Take a stick and hit it hard Don’t forget to be on guard. (pinata-- it was hilarious, I didn't dare give the kids too heavy of a bat, but the one we were using just didn't cut it. We had the painters over finishing up stuff and one of them finally came out to whack the pinata so we could get to the treasure inside-- the kids didn't mind but were blown away by the amount of goodies they got!)

Run inside and sit on down what you’ll find won’t make you frown. (this was the treasure chest cake-- very tasty and the kids were thrilled with the rings, coins and jewels inside.)

These are 2 of Daniel's presents-- a Cars race track and a scooter. Daniel was in heaven yesterday playing with all his friends and new toys.
