Battle of wills

Daniel has been the best kid ever the last week or so. We finally had to get stern and result to putting up the gate in front of his door at night so he would stay in his room. This was something Heidi's friend Libby suggested and we've been grateful ever since. The first two nights he got his 3 warnings then the gate went up. He screamed and cried for 30 or 40 minutes until he finally fell asleep from exhaustion, but now he knows to stay in his room at night and we haven't had a problem since.

Now he's been getting enough sleep at night and the rest of us have finally been getting enough sleep at night so we've all been so much happier.

We go through our routine every night: bath, potty, brush teeth, change into pajamas, read 3 books then say prayers. When we say our prayers we say thanks for mommy, daddy, baby Rylie, for grandma and grandpa and Andy and Orson.. and he'll either repeat what I say or sometimes he'll just say Yes after everything. So one night he was saying Yes, Yes, Yes then we asked Heavenly Father to help him to fall asleep quickly and stay in his room so we don't have to put the gate up; then there was a pause as he considers that and then he says No gate.. It was really cute, I didn't think he was really paying attention.

He hates the gate, the mere mention of it will keep him in line now. Here is a couple of pictures of either the first night or the second night. He screamed and cried until he finally just fell asleep right there on the floor.

Later we were able to transition him to his bed. Notice the duct tape around his diaper, he still likes to take his diaper off and play in his poop. What a rascal!
