Mine!

We just noticed about two days ago that Daniel is now using the possesive "mine" word. (Thank goodness he still hasn't learned "no" yet; as parents we can only handle so much at a time!) Heidi found a tini-tiny play set from a garage sale last Saturday. It has one tiny swing and one little extension to sit in with a steering wheel. It cost a wopping $10. To Daniel it may as well have been Disneyland itself! He was so excited to play with it. He would sit in it and pretend that he was driving and I would pull on his leg to give him a little swing. This thing is really only made for about a 3 year old.

Well, Sunday we had some cousins over and they of course wanted to play on it. As soon as Daniel saw someone else taking a turn on the swing he went ballistic! He ran over screaming MMIIIINNEE!!!!!! and tried to pull her out of the swing. It was all I could do to hold him back. I tried to explain taking turns. It was too much. He of course flopped down on the grass wailing as loud as he could. I guess if we'd walked up to the gates of Disneyland and I said sorry you can't go in yet, wait your turn, I can understand his sudden, overwelming frustration. I'll make sure we don't go to Disneyland on a day that it's closed. I could see Daniel buying a BB gun and holding the security guard hostage while he took him on all the rides.

Before now I've never seen Daniel be so possesive of anything. I think a new phase has begun. He's 23 months, but might as well be 2 1/2.
