Puerto Rico adventures part 1

We arrived in Puerto Rico Friday afternoon after flying all night. The kids did amazingly well on the flight and ended up sleeping most of the time. Darin and I on the other hand were lucky if we got any sleep. Needless to say Friday we were up for laying low and enjoying being with Natalie and cousins. We took a fabulous golf cart ride around to see all that their community offered, then enjoyed an evening of hanging out.

On Saturday, Natalie took our kids in the morning so we could go on a bike ride. The kids went to their amazing sand box area where they had great water features that allowed the kids to navigate the water to the sand so they could then build with it. The kids loved it and the best part was when they were finished they have a little pool area where they can go to wash off the sand. We had great pictures of it, but I accidentally erased everything on my camera and lost these pictures. That afternoon it rained and the kids loved playing outside and running in the rain. Who wouldn't when you are from sunny Arizona and rain is a complete mystery to us?

That evening we took the kids on a ride around to cool off. I have to admit that 90 degrees in humidity is far worse than 110 in dry heat. We were sweaty, sticky and just plain uncomfortable so these cart rides were heaven. We were laughing because we stopped at the point where there are great views of the surrounding area. We were all looking around when Daniel announced he saw something in the grass. Sure enough he found miniature hermit crabs. We just laugh at how much he notices the details where ever he is.

This is a classic picture. Just the first of many daddy moments. Rylie did great on the trip as long as daddy was nearby. She was inseparable from him. Such fun for me to watch!

Every time we would go on a cart ride we found ducks. The kids loved feeding them. Aren't the ducklings adorable. We also saw iguanas and turtles.

Here is Jonny and Natalie's house. It was such a beautiful place to stay. We stayed in the room with the balcony.

On Sunday we went into Old San Juan for a picnic, tour of their fort and to walk around town.

Daniel and Rylie loving the kites. Unfortunately for Rylie she got really sick and ended up throwing up a number of times. This pic was after her first few episodes so she isn't looking absolutely thrilled.

Next we went to the oldest fort in the Americas.

Right when we were ready to say cheese, Rylie had another episode. The poor girl.

We did get some good family photos in anyways-- what a trooper.

Below are pictures of the fort. The kids especially loved being with their uncle Jonny and cousins. So much fun to be with family.

The colorful housing community is the biggest area for drugs and crime in Puerto Rico. Don't you love how close it is to the tourist community?

Our Michael Jackson moment! Natalie stayed back with Wyatt and here she is showing that he is enjoying his tour too!

Hint: for these panoramas click on them so they go to full screen. That is the only way of getting the true effect of how cool the picture is.

After our fort tour we took a trolley around Old San Juan and then had to try one of Jonny and Natalie's favorite treats. A sweet roll with eggs, ham and cheese. Poor Rylie was completely gone by this time and ended up outside with Darin while we all finished.

We finished our tour at the Old San Juan square where we gallivanted with pigeons. I'm not so sure if I liked the idea of the pigeons sitting right on me, but the kids loved it.
